Pool attendant Tony Grech has been identified as one of the men caught on CCTV placing a bet on the controversial North Queensland Cowboys-Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs game last year.
Fairfax is reporting Grech is one of the four men police want to question about the match, along with Townsville bar owner Joel Solinas, Sydney’s Anthony Serratore and the fourth punter from Townsville.
There is no suggestion from police that the four men have done anything illegal, but it is thought they may be able to help with inquiries into the match.
Grech refused to comment on the record when approached about the matter, saying “I’ve got no comment to make.”
Fairfax is reporting Grech, like the other three men in the CCTV images, is acting on advice from his lawyers. Police are negotiating to formally interview the men.
